This test can detect the presence of the HIV 1 virus 10 days after potential exposure. PCR stands for Polymerase Chain Reaction and is a testing method that extracts and amplifies the genetic material of an organism (in this case HIV). Because testing using PCR DNA checks for the virus itself, the window period is shorter compared with other types of HIV testing. This means it can provide a positive result sooner than other tests.

This test is slightly less sensitive than the 28 day test. Therefore, if you choose our 10 Day test we would recommend that you have a follow up with a 28 day test. The results of the HIV PCR test will be ready three working day from when your sample is received in the laboratory

This tests is only available as part of our Early Detection Screen along with Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C.
