Blemish STI Screen
If you have a lump, wart, blister, rash or other blemish in your genital area, then this screen may be the right one for you. This screen will take a swab of your blemish to see if it caused by one of the STIs we test for.
Which STIs are included?
The Blemish Screen tests for:
- Syphilis
- Herpes 1 and 2 (Current Infection)
- Genital Warts/ HPV
These are the most common sexually transmitted causes of blemishes in the genital region.
You can add on any other STI to this screen if you would like, they may need additional samples.
What samples do you take?
We take two swabs of the suspected area to see if your current symptoms are caused by the STIs we test for.
How do I get my results?
We will normally call you with your results. If you would prefer to call us, or get an email or SMS, then please let us know at the time of booking.
What happens if I test positive?
We are here to help you with the next steps of your treatment. Syphilis is curable and your doctor will help you to find the right antibiotic for you. Future herpes outbreaks can often be managed by creams, if you find that your symptoms persist, your Better2Know doctor can discuss anti-viral medications which may help to being your outbreaks under control. For HPV, we test for different types, and it depends on which type you test positive for as to the appropriate next steps. Your doctor will be able to help you.
