What is the Instant Peace of Mind Screen?
Available at selected locations across South Africa, Better2Know’s Instant testing service is catered to those who want results on the same day as their test. Your Instant Peace of Mind Screen offers fast, accurate results for three common STIs, and only requires a 14-day period of incubation. This means you can get tested as early as two weeks after an incident of concern.
Which infections are tested for?
Our Instant Peace of Mind Screen tests for:
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhoea
- Syphilis
If you would like to receive rapid results for other STIs, including HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, our expert Patient Services team can make the appropriate arrangements for you.
What samples are required?
Blood and swab samples will be taken for this screen. Your blood sample, taken using a finger prick lancet, will be used to detect Syphilis, and your swab samples will be analysed for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea. No fasting or dietary requirements are necessary for this screening option, or any other Better2Know test.
How will I receive my results?
At your confidential appointment in South Africa, your results will be available fewer than 30 minutes after testing. You will also be given a signed and completed copy of the Better2Know Rapid Test Results Report.
What if I test positive for an STI?
Better2Know’s sexual health clinic will provide a prescription for the medication you require if you test positive for Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea. If your test is reactive for Syphilis, we will conduct further, confirmatory blood testing. Both services are available at no additional cost. Our trained Sexual Health Advisors can arrange a private doctor’s consultation following your test, so you can discuss your diagnosis in more detail. You can also take your results to another doctor or sexual health care service.
